The Cultural Arts Commission was established by a Township ordinance which was approved by the Township Council and Mayor Richard Pucci in June 1998. The function of the Commission, as stated in the ordinance, is to “establish and improve programs, projects and events to foster and bring the cultural arts to the Township for the benefit of the Township’s citizens.”
For the past 17 years the Commission has organized programing of high caliber at affordable fees to meet the interests of all age groups. Annual favorites include a FREE “Music in the Park”concert series, a juried community-wide art exhibit, community education courses, plus children’s workshops and camps.
Last year alone, activities were offered on 107 days of the calendar year – from a Chamber Music and Opera Lecture Series to Ballet , from the NJ Festival Orchestra and the Jersey Shore Orchestra to hosting one of our local Big Bands, from Peter Yarrow Live to a Rod Stewart Tribute, and a truly intergenerational opportunity with our Community Theater Group The Mighty Oak Players performance of EVITA.
Second Monday of the Month at 7:00 PM, in the Municipal Building’s Conference Room. Due to the holidays, the September meeting will be held on September 21st and the October meeting will be held on the October 19th.
