Alborada's newest production: “The Journey - Exploring the Origins of Flamenco”, traces the fascinating journey of the Gypsies from India through Egypt into Andalucia, and the exchanges and influences that took place as of 1200 years ago. The concert pays tribute to the dances of India including the Gypsy dances of Northern India, plus Middle Eastern influences with dances from Egypt. It will feature performers of Vazhuvoor Bani, Kathak and Barat Natyam, dances from Egypt, and the early Flamenco dances as well as fusion music compositions from all 3 countries and fusion dances of the soloist Indian, Egyptian and Spanish dancers. As always, the program will be educational as well as visually exciting and uplifting, following in Alborada's unique tradition in presenting performances exploring the cross-cultural aspects of Spain's rich history and culture.
Advance tickets are available at the Monroe Township Community Center, the Monroe Township Senior Center, and at the door in box office five hours prior to performance. |
